AV1 encoding quality has significantly improved over the past few years, now offering competitive visual fidelity at lower bitrates compared to older codecs like H.264. It uses advanced compression techniques to reduce artifacts, though there can be slight softness in very high-motion scenes. For most content, especially streaming, the trade-off in file size versus quality is well worth it, making it a solid choice for modern video delivery.
